District and School Widgets

Creating a District or School Widget

As you create your widget, the preview of the widget on the left changes based on your selections.

  1. Click the Gallery tab.
  2. Click the theme you want for your widget.
  3. Click Select under District or School.
  4. Click one district or school from the Show data for drop-down list.
  5. Choose a grade.
  6. Choose a time period.
  7. Click Save Widget. You will see your widget on the My Widgets tab.

Posting a District or School Widget to a Web site

  1. Click the My Widgets tab.
  2. For the widget you want, click Get Widget Code.
  3. To copy the code, select all of the code, right-click, and click Copy.
    To save the code to your computer, click Save to My Computer and follow the browser's prompts to save and download the file to your computer.
  4. Either paste this HTML code into the desired page of your Web site (if you have edit rights) or attach the HTML code file that you saved and send it to your Web Administrator to put it in the Web site.

Editing a District or School Widget

As you edit your widget, the preview of the widget on the left changes based on your selections.

  1. Click the My Widgets tab.
  2. For the widget you want, click Edit Widget.
  3. Click the theme you want for your widget.
  4. Click one district or school from the Show data for drop-down list.
  5. Choose a grade.
  6. Choose a time period.
  7. Under sharing, choose if you want sharing On or Off.
    Notes: Turning sharing off prevents a widget from displaying on a Web site for a time, without someone having to delete the widget code from the Web page. If sharing is turned off, on a Web site you will see a gray image saying "widget unavailable" on the bottom. On a mobile device you will see a post-it note saying "disabled."
  8. Click Save Changes. You will see your changed widget on the My Widgets tab and on your iPhone.

Deleting a District or School Widget

Note: A widget is not deleted from a Web site until someone removes the code from the district or school Web page.

  1. Click the My Widgets tab.
  2. For the widget you want, click Edit Widget.
  3. Under sharing, click Delete Widget.
  4. If you are sure you want to delete it, click Yes. Note: This does not remove the widget from your Web Site.
  5. To delete the widget from your Web site, you or the Web Administrator must remove the code from any existing Web page.

Nationwide Widgets

Note: Nationwide widgets always display data for all grades, monthly.

Creating and Posting a Nationwide Widget

As you create your widget, the preview of the widget on the left changes based on your selections.

  1. Click the Gallery tab.
  2. Click the theme you want for your widget.
  3. Click Select under Nationwide.
  4. To copy the code, select all of the code, right-click, and click Copy.
    To save the code to your computer, click Save to My Computer and follow the browser's prompts to save and download the file to your computer.
  5. Either paste this HTML code into the desired page of your Web site (if you have edit rights) or attach the HTML code file that you saved and send it to your Web Administrator to put it in the Web site.

Changing the Theme of a Nationwide Widget

Note: You cannot edit a Nationwide widget through Renaissance Place Real Time. You can, however, edit the theme and choose to turn a timeframe of a Nationwide widget On or Off using the K12 Activity iPhone app.

  1. Create a new nationwide widget with the theme you want.
  2. Delete the existing school code from your Web site.
  3. Paste the new school code into your Web site.

Deleting a Nationwide Widget from a Web site

If you no longer want the Nationwide widget on your Web site, you must delete the code for the Nationwide widget from your Web site.

Widgets on the iPhone or iPod touch

The name of the iPhone app is K12 Activity

Viewing a District or School Widget

For more information about using widgets with the iPhone, go to the About tab and click Widgets on iPhone.

  1. Download the K12 Activity app from the App StoreSM onto your iPhone or iPod touch.
  2. In the Renaissance Place Real Time Widgets site, click the My Widgets tab.
  3. For the widget you want, click Get Widget Code.
  4. Under Instructions for the iPhone, make a note of the code listed.
  5. Touch K12 Activity.
  6. Touch Configure .
  7. Touch Add School Reading Activity .
  8. Using the keyboard on the screen, type the code for your widget. Touch .?123 to get to the numbers and symbols. Touch ABC to go back to the letter keyboard.
  9. Touch Search in the bottom-right corner to submit the code.
  10. Touch the name of the widget you just activated to go back to the Activity screen.
  11. Touch Done.

Turning a Nationwide Widget On or Off

  1. Touch K12 Activity.
  2. Touch Configure .
  3. Choose which time frames you want to view by turning them On or Off.
  4. Touch Done.

Editing the Theme of a Nationwide Widget

  1. Touch K12 Activity.
  2. Touch Configure .
  3. To choose a different theme, touch the Theme line and then touch the theme you want.
    Note: The same theme will be applied to all the variations of the Nationwide widget you have On.
  4. Touch Activity.
  5. Touch Done.

Reordering School or District Widgets

  1. Touch K12 Activity.
  2. Touch Configure .
  3. Under School Reading, touch the on one of the School widgets, wait for it to be highlighted, and drag it to where you want it.
  4. Touch Done.

Deleting a School or District Widget

Note: You can delete or hide a Nationwide widget by turning the time frames On or Off.

  1. Touch K12 Activity.
  2. Touch Configure .
  3. Under School Reading, touch Delete by the widget you want to delete.
  4. Touch Delete.
